Archaeological investigations from 2015-2018 at the former Mail Marketing site on West Street revealed late Neolithic/early Bronze Age flint and pottery.  Structural features and artefacts suggested an enclosed rural agricultural settlement, established during the later Iron Age. Fields or enclosures laid out during the 2nd to 4th centuries AD indicated the continuation of a well-established agricultural settlement into the Romano-British period.  The Romans may have marched along a route which today we might recognise as West Street. Pilgrims too walked that way attending religious gatherings at Glastonbury. https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/9ca409a4993745c7850db9245fdff46f
